The GHOSTS from the Past
This event takes place in October each year at the Arkansas Post National Park near Gillette, Arkansas. Arkansas Post, near the original site of the Quapaw village called Osotouy, was the first capitol in Arkansas. The Spanish explorer Tonti built a fort there in the late 1600’s and mingled with the Quapaw and French. This event is a historical walking tour that takes place in the evening with attendees experiencing what life would have been like during various periods of history at the site. I was privileged to be part of the event for two years giving guests a look at what it would have been like for the Quapaw women to make pots along the river bank. If you are ever in the area, Arkansas Post has a very nice museum and walking trail.
